With the mangalasasanams of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji, JET-USA California chapter celebrated Sri Goda Ranganatha Swamy Kalyana Mahotsavam on Sunday, Jan 13th, 2013 @ Smt. Padmajaji & Sri. Sridharji's residence. Around 120 people participated to make this event a grand success. Sri Venkat Raghavan Swamy was instrumental in having Sri Goda Devi and Sri Ranganatha Swamy grace the Kalyana Mahotsavam. Sri Sampath Sridharan, priest from Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, performed the divine Kalyanam with great devotion and dedication.
The event began with Edurkolu skit written and directed by Sri. Kalyanji, that was performed by volunteers - Kalyanji, Swatiji,Sridharji, Padmajaji, Ramanaji, SreeLakshmiji, Vasukiji, Rukminiji, Kalyanji's mother, Kalyanji's father, Shyamji, Madhuji, Lakshmiji and Mahadevji. Everyone present enjoyed the skit which extolled the divine qualities of Thaayar and Perumal in a humorous manner. Smt.Padmajaji and Sri.Sridharji acted as the parents of Sri Goda Devi and performed the Kanya Da:na ritual of the marriage ceremony. Smt. Lakshmiji and Sri Mahadevji acted as parents of Perumal and accepted Goda Devi's hand in marriage to Ranganatha Swamy. Smt. Shobhaji, Prajna teacher from Bay Area, sang melodious songs through out the event. Sri Kalyanji and Sri Ramanaji participated in the Maalai Shaatinaal dance and Nalangu, which brought out the joy and merriment in people watching the Kalyanam. Volunteers prepared special Naivedyam for the occasion. A grand feast befitting the divine Kalyanam was prepared by a local temple cook and and his wife along with many volunteers. Following the Thadyaradhana, Bhogi Pallu was organized by JET volunteers. Children showed their excitement as they were being blessed by the elders.
Overall, with Perumaal's Sankalapam, A:cha:rya's Kripa Kataksham and all the volunteers enthusiasm, the event was a grand success.
